Plastic Surgery Vs. Cosmetic Surgery:

Often considered synonymous with each other, both these terms are but different aspects of the main branch of medicine known as plastic surgery.

Plastic surgery intrinsically involves reconstructive surgery procedures which repair or correct deformities or abnormalities. There are surgeries for correcting protruding ears [Otoplasty], removing nasal deformities [rhinoplasty] and also for correcting abdominal deformities caused due to surgery [Abdominal Lipectomy].

However, these very same procedures can also be used to enhance the features in question.
Rhinoplasty can shape the nose; an otoplasty can give a slender shape to the ears, while an abdominal lipectomy can give a patient a narrow waist and a gently curved tummy.

As you can see, there are no definite lines that help to distinguish between the function of these two terms. Most
plastic surgeons are also called cosmetic surgeons for a reason. Once a reconstructive surgery is performed, the results have to look as natural as possible. Any flaws that were present in the body before surgery have to be brushed out.

Keeping this in mind, a
plastic surgeon has to apply his aesthetic sensibilities in such a way that the body is enhanced with a simple reconstructive procedure. Thus, with a plastic surgery both cosmetic enhancements as well as reconstructive needs are met.

Financial institutions, while assessing a loan for plastic surgery make a distinction between reconstructive surgery and a surgery for cosmetic enhancement. The former is corrected by health insurance plans, but loans for the latter carry a higher interest rate and are riskier, with banks treating them as ‘unsecured’ loans. It is recommended to discuss with your doctor the best way to deal with the financial aspect of the surgery.

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California is one of the foremost facilities presenting the best services in the field of plastic surgery. The doctors at our centers in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles realize the cosmetic possibilities that reconstructive surgeries hold and expertly work on the same to make you look better.

Puff That Chest With Pride:

There are some men who huff, puff and go through all the required paces, but still face the disappointment of seeing their chests refusing to gain that buffed, hard-muscled look. And then again, there are those men who achieve that kind of a chest by simply having a pec or pectoral implant.

If women could increase their breast size through a
breast augmentation procedure, than the options that were available for men to do the same are bound to include pectoral implants. The procedure works on the same lines as a breast implant procedure.

An implant made of solid silicone [unlike the silicone gel implants used for women] is inserted under the pectoralis muscle in the chest area. The incision is usually hidden in the arm pit area. In case of a change of mind, the implants are easily removable with the recovery time for removal being less than what it was for insertion.

A few important issues have to be considered though while deciding to get a
pec implant. The implants will not add definition to your chest muscles. They are only capable of providing volume. Definition can only be gained through additional exercise.

Like all surgeries, a pec implant surgery too involves complications like displacement of the implants, hematoma, seroma, and numbness in the upper arm. Proper consultation and a qualified
cosmetic surgeon can go a long way in ensuring your health and safety.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we have qualified and board certified
cosmetic surgeons that perform such procedures. A pectoral implant procedure can also help correct asymmetry and the absence of the pectoralis in patients. Contact us today, to avail of the best cosmetic surgery services available in California.

Un-stretching The Truth About Striae:

Commonly associated with puberty, pregnancy and an overweight body, stretch marks or striae are the bane of many men and women looking to bare that extra patch of skin. Other known causes for stretch marks are the changing body size brought about due to body building and steroid-containing skin creams. They appear as either slightly raised from the skin surface or as light grooves.

While they can form anywhere in the body, the areas where there is more fat stored are more prone to stretch mark development. The abdomen, thighs, the lower back area, hip, butt and the arms are the most common of these. As long as there is support in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, the particular area will be resilient to
stretch marks.

There is no known health risk associated with stretch marks, and they are known to fade with time. But the main reason for their removal is a blemish-free skin. Immediate methods for diminishing their presence include
cosmetic surgery, microdermabrasion and laser treatment.

Among the options for the surgical removal of stretch marks,
dermabrasion or chemical peel are the methods known to be more effective. Removal of stretch marks in the lower abdominal area can also be done with a tummy tuck. However, age, skin tone and diet are intermingling factors which affect the success of these methods.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we have teams of surgeons accomplished in the treatment of unwanted skin blemishes like stretch marks. Contact us to know more about how we can help you.

Butt Beautiful:

According to Galdino F. Pranzarone, a professor of psychology at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, in primeval societies, the butt of a woman was the primary sexual attractor, not the breasts. Buttock augmentation procedures increase the size of a person’s hind enabling a person to have a shapely butt. Such preferences very well could hint at the latent cavemen tendencies men seem to exhibit occasionally.

The low-rise jeans era and the further diminishment of the not-so-humble bikini, further have a lot of American women paying more attention to their derriere. “Is my butt to big?” is most definitely the most dreaded question after “Is my butt too small?” as half the world’s men would agree. The butt is never perfect for any woman.

Compared to
breast augmentation and rhytidectomy, buttock augmentation is still in its growing stage. It is still being fine-tuned. However, this has certainly not deterred a lot of American women from reshaping their derriere. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recorded a four time increase in buttock augmentation surgeries from 2002 to 2006.

Each ethnic group has its own preferences though. Asians seem to prefer small, shapely buttocks, while Caucasians seem to switch between athletic rears to ample Playmate bottoms. Hispanics gravitate more to well-rounded posteriors while African-Americans go all out on butt size. Well, each to her own.

‘Butt’ whatever be your preferences, at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we get to the bottom-line [literally] of your curvy fancies. Skilled surgeons examine your body type carefully and help you to get that great figure you want. Our buttock augmentation procedures just might get you a satisfactory answer from your man.

Mommy Wanna Makeover?

It’s been twelve years since your lovely daughter was born, and suddenly on her first teen birthday she turns around and quite startles you with this part question and part suggestion. Is it time? You silently ponder.

A mother’s job doesn’t have to include the ever- present grime from gardening or the frown lines that come complimentary with the stress of balancing a full-time job with planning the dinner and everyone’s chores.
Cosmetic surgery has a multitude of options to give mothers the chance to get their looks back. A tummy tuck can tauten that flabby stomach, breast augmentation procedures can get the P back in pert, thigh and buttock lifts can take care of the jiggles, and a facelift…well, mission accomplished!

A combination of such
cosmetic procedures goes a long way in regaining all those lost years. However, it is necessary to discuss with your surgeon the exact procedures you want to go ahead with and the kind of results you are expecting. A skilled plastic surgeon can then outline a surgery plan that will suit you perfectly. Remember to approach a complete makeover like this with a practical mindset, as pre and post-surgery precautions and changes have to be carefully taken care of. Family cooperation too, is very essential as after you, they are the ones who will be the most affected.

Health problems, high blood pressure, obesity, etc. are factors which might prevent you from having a surgery. It is best to discuss with your plastic surgeon the options that are available to you. Patients who have undergone such procedures find their appetite and weight easier to control. Mother’s who have just given birth also find procedures like a
tummy tuck and breast lifts very helpful as their bodies can get back to the shape it was pre-pregnancy.

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California provides procedures like breast augmentations, facelifts,
liposuction, tummy tucks as well as injectables like Botox®. Doctors at our facilities in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles provide excellent advice on which cosmetic surgery procedures are the best for you and your body. We will not only get it back to its old shape, but also enhance it aesthetically.

Partying With Botox:

The great thing about Botox® is the no pain, zero recovery period and economical option it offers men and women. High society soirées are becoming increasingly popular for serving a shot of Botox® with delectable caviar pâté’s. Indeed, celebrities like the Beckhams are rumored to host such Botox® ‘parties’ as they are known. This trend is not limited to just the beau monde though; seminars, evenings and socials held by plastic surgeons looking to expand their clientele too form a major section of society hosting such ‘parties’.

MSNBC reported an increase in Botox® sales to $310 million according 2006 findings. $100 million were the rates for cosmetic purposes alone. The marketing of this wonder shot can be attributed mainly to such
Botox® parties. A regular Botox® party goes something like this. A group of men and women, not necessarily known to each other, convene at a decided venue which could either be someone’s house or a specially booked convention hall. While refreshments are being served, each person is singled out by the doctor in succession. After paying the requisite fee and signing the consent form, the Botox® treatment is administered either in a private room or in view of others.

While practitioners claim to find such Botox® parties very affordable to all concerned, there are a lot of critics of this method. Their primary concern being the need of a well controlled environment for any medical treatment. A lack of professionalism too, has many established practitioners frowning upon such a medium of treatment.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we adhere to methods that are strictly ethical and highly professional. Our facilities in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles offer treatments in Botox® and other injectables like
Collagen®, Restylane® and Radiesse®. Contact us to know more.

Breast Implants And Happiness:

Feminine charm and curves are undoubtedly characterized by the female breasts. The need to have perfect and toned breasts is thus foremost on a score of women’s minds. Sexy lingerie, curvy Hollywood bombshells, evolving fashion trends, music videos with amply endowed PYTs etc. dog the average woman more than necessary throughout her day. Perhaps these are the reasons that are driving more and more American women to opt for breast implants and augmentation procedures in growing numbers.

Or maybe they are just in pursuit of some good ol’ happiness in their love lives, family lives, friend circles, and workplace. Whatever be the reason, breast implants are undoubtedly the most popular of all the
cosmetic surgery procedures performed by plastic surgeons in the U.S. If such a procedure is shown to result in improved self esteem, confidence, health and sexual activity, then breast implant procedures seem to have earned their popularity well. Patients who have had a mastectomy and suffer from physical deformities are also known to view procedures like a breast implant a boon.

Latest studies might claim to make a connection between breast implants and rising suicide rates; but the care our doctors at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California provide, guarantee you a comfortable and pleasant transition from your old body to your newly enhanced one. The post surgery precautions are crucial for a patient’s health and we ensure that follow up care is provided to help you with a smooth healing process.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we provide detailed help on all your queries regarding breast implants. Certified and experienced doctors take care to provide you the best consultation services and advice available. We also make sure you are informed about complications like asymmetry, bleeding, infection, etc. which might occur in such a procedure and take care to make them as negligible as possible. Your happiness is in safe hands.

An Aging Face? Rhytidectomy To The Rescue!

With constant breakthroughs in medical research, the average life span of the average American has increased from forty-nine in 1900 to seventy-seven in 1998. With more and more people making use of alternative medicine therapies like yoga, herbalism, diet-based therapy, etc. a person need not be 50 to be termed as old. The ‘new’ old is 30 in this health conscious time and age. In this frenzied race against time, a younger body has to have a younger face to go with it. Where is the fun in feeling younger by years if you aren’t looking younger?

Beauty creams can only get you this far. A more long term benefit is what is assured by most doctors after a
cosmetic surgery. Rhytidectomy, or ‘face lifts’ as they are popularly known, rhinoplasty, chemical peels, injectables like Botox®, etc. are some of the procedures that are available not only to the rich socialite but also to the working mom and to the septuagenarian who wants to remarry.

Rhytidectomy is the most popular procedure patients opt for when it comes to improving looks. The elastic tissue of the skin weakens with age, resulting in deepening lines around the mouth and between the eyebrows. Factors like hormones, skin type and texture, exposure to intense climatic conditions, etc. are just a few of the factors that affect the aging process. Rhytidectomy involves an operation to eliminate wrinkles and tighten the skin from the neck and the face. However, while this procedure remedies the effects of aging, it does not halt the aging process. This is an important point to remember. In ideal cases, the benefits can last from 5-10 years.

At our centers at
Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, the best cosmetic surgeons are available to assist you in your efforts to have a younger face with a rhytidectomy procedure. Accompanying procedures like cheek and chin augmentation, rhinoplasty and otoplasty are also provided at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.

Choosing The Wrong Place- A Common Mistake:

The rising popularity of plastic surgery, especially with the increase in reality shows and soaps that showcase the benefits of plastic surgery, has called for an increase in demand for specialists who can provide exclusive expertise in this branch of medicine.

A proliferation of unqualified
plastic surgeons is one of the main issues that official boards try to prevent. Beverly Hills, California, is held to be the Mecca of plastic surgery; but in this bevy of surgeons, specialists, and consultants, it is important to remember that a trained and certified surgeon is what matters. This is where a certifying body like the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), proves useful.

A
cosmetic surgeon’ credentials, experience, etc. have to be attested. Recommendations from friends, acquaintances and even your general practitioner may seem to be trustworthy, but are essential to be followed upon and considered carefully. Or else post surgery scars may be the least of the problems that you might have to face if your surgeon lacks the credentials.

Our qualified and experienced surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California in Beverly Hills & Los Angeles can guide you through procedures like
Rhinoplasty, breast reduction and augmentation, tummy tucks and nose and face lifts with ease. Our sincerity and legitimacy is guaranteed as we are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Is Plastic Surgery Right For Your Teen?

With shows like “The Swan”, “Extreme Makeover” and “MTV I Want a Famous Face”, the reach that cosmetic surgery has over people has grown wider, embracing impressionable minds as young as 12. These teenagers form a growing section of the clientele that plastic surgery attracts. And it’s not only disfigurements like protruding ears, asymmetrical breasts and acne problems that have these youngsters running for a ‘Knife- style’ change.

The
American Society of Plastic Surgeons, noted that procedures like breast augmentation, reduction mammoplasty, rhinoplasty and liposuction too are popular amongst this group. A survey by the ASPS also reported a surge in the figures from 2000 to 2005 from about 306,000 to 333,000.

Parents are advised to evaluate for themselves their progeny’s need for
cosmetic surgery, especially if their children are below 18 years of age. Stable emotional maturity on part of the teenager is a required quotient that the parent has to ensure. The parents as well, have to understand the implications of cosmetic surgery at such a young age, and are advised not to allow their child to under-go cosmetic surgeries for the sole purpose of societal and filial acceptance. Reconstructive surgeries like nose- reshaping, correction of disfigurements, etc. are good reasons for taking recourse to plastic surgery.

Schedule a visit today at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California. Our experienced team of doctors will provide you with an unbiased opinion on your teen’s suitability for availing our services.

Confidence, Health And Plastic Surgery:

With the increasing options that cosmetic surgeons and clinics provide patients with, there is a shift noticed from the application of cosmetic surgery for purely aesthetic purposes to re constructing and correcting congenital deformities. Breast reconstructions, Otoplasty, correcting asymmetry in pectoral muscles in men, etc. are some of the reconstruction procedures that are provided at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.

The boost in self esteem that such procedures provide is very noticeable and can turn out to be beneficent. According to a survey carried out in the
UK, 97% said that the biggest motivating factor for cosmetic surgery is ‘to have more confidence’. Such studies show that being rich and famous need not be the norm when it comes to cosmetic surgery. Anyone desiring a plastic surgery can consider having one with the proper resources and means at their disposal.

Improved health conditions are a natural result of cosmetic surgery. With the patient looking and feeling better, there is a motivation for maintaining his body shape.
Reconstructive surgeries like hand surgery, skin grafting, etc. too are options available to those seeking to treat conditions sustained due to accidents and help greatly in the healing process.

Patient testimonials which we receive at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, are our constant motivators in providing you with first end services to help you in the process of building up your personality and confidence along with improving your health.

Enhance Your Natural Beauty With Plastic Surgery:

Plastic surgeons are a class apart from the rest of the more technical forms of medicine. Their genius is based on their ability to mould, shape and sculpt a patient’s body or features. Ancient Indian and Egyptian practitioners to Demi Moore, it sure has been an illustrative journey for this not- so- young branch of medicine.

Pop culture along with the paparazzi, has led to an increase in the demand for more and more people embracing this option for purposes of improving their physical appearance. Essenza Di Wills, Shiseido, Clinique, etc. are just a fraction of the brands forming the market which has sprung up in recent years catering to the appeals of the new age men. Men, who don’t hesitate to revamp their image and physique. Women, it seems, are no longer the sole promoters of
cosmetic surgery procedures.

Procedures like
rhinoplasty, breast reduction and augmentation, face and nose lifts and tummy tucks, are most of the common procedures patients opt for. While smashing results are expected by patients of cosmetic surgery, one of the main issues that have to be remembered is the practicality of the surgery. It is important to evaluate the options that are available to suit your particular features. Ethnic features, hereditary inheritances, geographical environment, etc. too have to be taken into consideration and the ramifications of each have to be considered and dealt with appropriately.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we are constantly innovating ourselves. The extra effort that needs to be put in to enhance your natural beauty is always something our teams of certified doctors are continually working upon.

Botox® - One Injection Which Won’t Make You Cry:

A neurotoxin protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum is what is rumored to be used by Victoria Beckham, Cindy Crawford and Meryl Streep to look flawlessly beautiful. Sounds corny, doesn’t it? Not really. The protein in question is what is commonly known by its trade name- Botox®.

Used to paralyze the muscles underlying facial expression by blocking nerve impulses, Botox® is used by many to achieve a more toned and smooth look Areas between the eyebrows, the outer corners of the eyes, the depressors of the lower lip and neck muscle bands are where Botox® is usually injected. The resulting effects include reduction of frown lines and creases in the forehead, removal of crow’s feet and muscle tautening in the neck. Besides reducing the ravages of time on your face, this wonder protein also is found effective in reducing excessive sweating, relieving muscle spasms in the neck and eyes and migraine headaches.

According to recent
ASPS statistics, of all the non surgical procedures available in the branch of medicine called plastic surgery, Botox® is the most popular among men and women and with good reason. While plastic surgery entails bruises, swellings, stitches and scars and a long recovery period, a Botox® treatment is quickly done in 10 minutes. The results are noticeable within twenty-four hours. The cost of a Botox® treatment is also considerably less expensive.

With such obvious advantages, its small wonder that this injectable has so many dedicated followers. At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California
we offer Botox® treatments among other injectable options like Collagen®, Restylane® and Radiesse®. With experienced and certified doctors available at our facilities in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills administering to your requirements, crying over this particular injection is a guaranteed no no.

Medical Tourism:

Medical tourism is a growing business in recent years. A surgical procedure combined with a relaxing vacation paints a picturesque dream. Travel agencies offer help in hotel arrangements, plane tickets, and even tickets to theaters and restaurants, in their specially designed ‘surgery packages’ for the medical tourist.

Patients’ running to distant shores for
plastic surgery treatments is due to a number of reasons, the main one being undoubtedly the price. Cosmetic surgery may be offered in exotic settings in Thailand, India, South Africa, and closer home, in Colombia, at one-tenth the price in the United States and Western Europe. But what the medical tourist has to remember is the possible risks that such countries can pose to personal health and healing, as well as the credibility of the doctor. While exotic countries have may have a lower cost of healthcare services, what a Westerner has to reflect upon are factors like the climate, food, language and public amenities among others. Tropical locales are notorious for diseases like dengue, malaria and hepatitis which are not prevalent in Western countries.

The
American Society of Plastic Surgeons [ASPS] points out a necessary reminder that in case of an injury or an issue of malpractice, an American cannot appeal to U.S. health and safety laws as they generally do not extend overseas. The West, while no doubt a costlier option is by far a safer option when it comes to plastic surgery. At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we make sure our services meet the standards set out by boards like the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. [ABPS] and the ASPS.

With the wide range of plastic surgery services we provide at some of the best rates in the industry, you don’t need to head to distant shores to look and feel your best. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California
located in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, California is the only destination you need to head to.

Taking Care Of Finances:

The ‘knife-style’ of the rich is no longer exclusively for this stratum of society from which its popularity originated. Plastic surgery has entered the living room of the average American man and woman with a host of television and movie celebrities openly flaunting their perfect- to- a- T bodies.

The increase in popularity of this branch of medicine has led to a decrease in the cost of
cosmetic surgery procedures. As its exclusivity is no more limited, plastic surgery is so widespread today, that by the year 2020, people are sure to backtrack if you say you haven’t undergone plastic surgery even once, according to Sander Gilman, an Emory University professor and author of two books on plastic surgery. Evidently, going under the knife has ceased to be a pocket pincher.

When charging you for their services,
plastic surgeons consider factors like their experience and demand in the field, the time, effort and complexity of the procedure and the geographic location of the facility. Accompanying factors like operating room and anesthesia fees, lab fees, implant costs, etc. are also deciding factors where price is concerned. After zeroing in on the procedure you want to go ahead with, it is advisable to conduct a detailed research into the practices and prices of different cosmetic surgeons in order to get a bird’s eye view of all the options available.

The one drawback that plastic surgery for aesthetic purposes faces is its exclusion from health insurance plans. However, plastic surgery for correcting a disfigurement or deformities does not face any such problem. The significant difference between
aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery is highlighted when this factor is taken into consideration. Loans for cosmetic surgery, though available in some banks, are treated as ‘unsecured’ personal loans.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we arrange for financing with major financial institutions at competitive rates. A superior standard and exceptional quality in surgery procedures is what we guarantee you. We take preoperative photographs and include them in your medical record.

Taking Care of You After Surgery:

Plastic surgery sure does have a lot of hype surrounding it. A first consultation usually has doctors answering patient questions like- ‘Will the procedure be completed in twenty minutes?’, ‘Will I have a nurse 24/7?’, ‘Can you make me look like Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston?’ besides questions that are a lot more inane. While you may not look like Jennifer Aniston or have a nurse at your beck while you are recuperating from cosmetic surgery, it is not something to get you disappointed. If the surgeon you have selected is as good as his credentials, than chances are he has already discussed the after effects of surgery with you.

Post surgery depression is part of the bargain in most surgery cases. Whether it is a
reconstructive surgery like chin augmentation or whether it may be a surgery to enhance your breasts; scars, swellings, blotches, etc. are to be expected and can be dealt with effectively. Sometimes more than one surgical procedure is necessary to correct certain disfigurations.

However, consult your surgeon about improvement chances before going ahead with any further surgeries. Dealing with your immediate environment, exercise, diet, etc. are factors that need to be taken into account as well. For instance, doctors’ advice patients to keep the head elevated after a
facelift; while full exercise is suggested to be resumed only 4- 6 weeks after a calf augmentation surgery.

Each individual reacts to pain in a different way. At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, our doctors evaluate each patient personally and provide
accurate diagnosis for any further surgeries you might want. We take that extra step to ensure that our patient’s queries and doubts are properly addressed and their smooth recovery is guaranteed. You can contact us for any queries.

Finding A Good Rhinoplasty Surgeon:

Getting a rhinoplasty or as it is more popularly known, a ‘nose job’, is a decision most patients take when either contemplating a correction of breathing problems and birth defects or for improving their nose structure. The perfect nose may not always be the right kind of nose for you. There are at least five elementary types of noses: Roman, Semitic, Aquiline, Grecian, and Retrousse. And then again there are the nose types which most people’s favorite strata of society- celebrities, are known to possess. For instance, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s wide tipped nose, Kate Beckinsale’s "the scoop" nose, and Owen Wilson’s bulbous tip, to name a few.

While perceptions of beauty differ from culture to culture, going ahead with the decision of having a rhinoplasty done has many factors that have to be taken into consideration. The best candidate for a rhinoplasty is one who wants to improve his or her nose and not perfect it. It is important to remember the fact that complications are infrequent and usually minor even when the procedure is performed by a qualified surgeon. Possible complications that may arise include infection, nosebleed, or a reaction to the anesthesia. It is important to heed closely the guidelines set out for you by your doctor, both pre and post surgery.

It is advisable to opt for a
board certified surgeon when planning a rhinoplasty. Certified surgeons are usually the most experienced surgeons available for the procedure. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. A doctor certified by this board is guaranteed to possess at least five years of surgical training and a minimum of two years plastic surgery experience.

We, at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California are members of the ASPS and our doctors have years of expertise and experience attached to their excellent credentials. Along with rhinoplasty we also offer surgeries like rhytidectomy or face lift, cheek and chin augmentation, otoplasty, blepharoplasty and lip augmentation.

Questions You Should Ask Before Your Surgery:

A plastic surgeon is the person in whose hands you are going to commend your body. The dream to look and feel better is what you have. The ability to sculpt this dream into reality is what your surgeon should be capable of. In order for this to be possible, a number of vital questions have to be answered before going ahead with the process that leads up to the desired surgery.

The most important question is the one that concerns your decision to go ahead with plastic surgery. Do you require it? You have to be sure of what type of surgery you exactly want. Do you want to go for enhancing or reconstructing your Face? Then maybe you need to go for a Cheek, Chin or Lip
Augmentation, or a Facelift, or a rhinoplasty, or Ear Correction. If enhancing your Breasts is what you want, then there are Breast Augmentations, Lifts, Reductions or Reconstructions which you can opt for. Then again there are also Thigh & Buttock Lifts, Buttock and Calf Augmentations, Liposuction, Pectoral Implants (for men), Tummy Tucks, etc. which are the surgery options available if you want to re- shape other parts of your Body. Your surgeon is only going to help you with what is the best type of surgery to go for, if you do require it.

Get your homework done.
With the ‘before surgery’ and ‘after surgery’ photographs most clinics and organizations display in their advertisements, plastic surgery looks very appealing at the best of times. But it is important to be aware of the risks, complications, and other precautions that come along with a surgery. How comfortable you are with the clinic and cosmetic surgeon you have selected depends a lot on how well you do your homework.

A surgeon’s skills are as good as his credentials and experience.
While you may have been referred a surgeon by a friend, aquaintance or even your own physician, it is important that you run a check before utilising his services just to be safe. Its that seeemingly insignificant step towards getting better results. Ask for his and his clinic’s certification as well. Members of
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, for instance, are trained particularly in plastic surgery. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California is one such facility that is affiliated with this association.

Techniques and processes which will be applied in your surgery.
An understanding of what you will undergo under the knife will help a long way, both emotionally and physically in softening the cut and soothing it later. It’s your body, and you have to be able to understand what was done to it to appreciate the new you and take care of yourself better.

We
have a team of qualified and experienced surgeons at Beverly Hills & Los Angeles, California who are able to guide you with detailed advice on procedures like Rhinoplasty, Breast Augmentations and Reductions, Tummy Tucks and nose and face lifts with ease.

Gastric Bypass Surgery Proves Saving Lives:

The latest statistics on obesity in the United States have come up with colossal results. Obesity is held to be responsible for 300,000 deaths every year. 58 Million overweight; 40 Million obese; 3 Million morbidly obese. A Gastric Bypass Procedure (GBP) is a surgery procedure used in particular to treat the last condition- morbid obesity which is the severe accumulation of excess weight as fatty tissue as well as the health problems (comorbidities) it causes.

This is a surgery which more and more obese people are turning towards, as besides improving the physical appearance and stamina of an individual, it also helps in reducing a number of health problems like diabetes and heart problems that particularly plague overweight people. In a GBP, the stomach size is reduced by about 90%. This helps a patient in maintaining a reduced intake of food as there is enough food to make him feel full. The stomach stays full for a longer period as it takes less time to empty out.

This procedure has proved to be a boon to many individuals suffering from obesity. Studies have shown that 90% of patients with type II non- insulin dependent diabetes mellitus are expected to be off medication. Patients with medical conditions like arthritis, fatigue, asthma, sleep apnea, etc. are found to have radically improved. Being overweight is no longer an option one has to contend with for life anymore, with such a life saving procedure like the GBP. Longevity is just another wonderful side effect which has patients running to embrace this alternative.

The growing popularity of Gastric Bypass Surgery for the treatment of morbid obesity, had plastic surgeons riding a wave of popularity with body contouring procedures like
buttock lifts, thigh lifts, tummy tucks etc. in the past few years. At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we make sure that your weight losing goals are considered and worked upon to help you nurture your new and improved self.

Cutting Edge Plastic Surgery Services:

A vital function of leading plastic surgery clinics and surgeons worldwide is their ability to make use of the latest and safest technologies in order to sustain their reputation amongst their existing clients as well as potential ones. It helps to know that your surgeon can assist you with the latest procedures and techniques and that he has access to the latest developments in the field of cosmetic surgery. After all, if your surgeon’s up- to- date, you are the one who will have a guaranteed glow.

Patient surveys, innovations and emerging trends, demographics, differing laws and stances on cosmetic surgery, religious beliefs, geographical differences, etc. are some of the factors which cosmetic surgeons have to take into consideration on a regular basis. Such studies, along with avoiding misinformation, also allow doctors to provide a
personalized service to their patients.

For instance, a recent story published in the New York Post spoke about a research out of
Iran which suggested that people who undergo cosmetic rhinoplasty may suffer from more than just less-than-attractive noses. The Iranian researchers concluded that “because of the Islamic mode of dressing for women practiced in Iran, which only leaves their faces exposed, rhinoplasty has seemingly become the most favorite plastic surgery procedure in Iran in recent years.”

Free consultations too go a long way in establishing trust between the potential patient and the surgeon. At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California located at Beverly Hills & Los Angeles, cutting edge plastic surgery services are paid attention to and provided to our patients, which enables them to evaluate their needs and assist in their decisions. Every effort is made to pay attention to detail where our patients are concerned.

In The Course Of Surgery

There are a few basic principles which one would be expected to follow during & after cosmetic surgery.

It is vital for a patient to abide by the preoperative and postoperative directions given in order to achieve a most favorable result. The most imperative benefit of cosmetic surgery is that it is performed mostly on healthy individuals. Still scars are the unavoidable consequence of surgery since they are the body's natural reaction in the curative route. Placing surgical incisions along natural tension lines and within natural skin folds will be beneficial as will particular care in wound closure technique. Many other factors including skin color and texture, heredity, age, location and skin care have a great bearing on the final appearance.

It takes a typical of 6-12 months and occasionally longer for a scar to "mature". Hideous scars may be improved by changing their width, length, direction or plane. More than one surgical procedure is frequently necessary. Radiation therapy to the scar or intradermal steroid injections can also be useful in some cases. None of these procedures are executed unless noticeable progress is contemplated. More recently pressure on hypeotrophied scars or keloids has been found to have beneficial effects. Properly applied cosmetics might be also necessary for concealing a scar.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California located at Beverly Hills & Los Angeles, we have a squad of first-rate doctors committed to produce the finest achievable results.

Chemical Peels Or Chemabrasion

Chemical Peels are done for abolition of faint wrinkles in the nonappearance of gross sagging of the facial skin. Chemical Peels or Chemabrasion is applied to the entire face or in portions, as needed.

Chemabrasion is also indicated for unusual skin pigmentations or, phony lesions and capillaries. Light skinned people are the finest contenders.

A combination of different chemicals can be used to complete the peel:

1) Phenol peel:
The procedure of applying a solution of a prepared Phenol, under heavy sedation results in "peeling" of the upper layer. This creates contraction and smoothing of the skin. A special tape face mask is applied and left for two days when the patient is seen again. After teasing off the tape, an antiseptic powder is applied over the treated area for a couple of days forming a thick crust. Special creams are used then to soften this crust which falls off about 7 days following the operation and a new pink healthy skin is seen under it. Cold cream or moisturizer is then used to cover the delicate skin. Cover-up make up containing a sun screen can be used 10 days post-operatively. The skin will remain pink for several weeks and abstention from sun exposure is mandatory. People with darkly pigmented oily skin are warned about unfavorable discoloration and scarring.

2) TCA peel:
For lesser wrinkles, this peel is faster healing, less painful, and does not interfere with the capacity of the skin for pigmentation.

3) Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, or Retinoid compounds:
These are superficial peels and can be performed by a trained technician under medical supervision.

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California carries out Chemical Peels or Chemabrasion, under expert supervision of Board Certified plastic surgeons at their centers in Beverly Hills, Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Pasadena
