Neck Lift

The neck begins to age faster than the whole face for some individuals. The wrinkles are more easily visible. A neck lift can be performed on its own without undergoing an entire full face lift, but together they complement each other as a package.

Though it is not always the age that prompts a neck lift, sometimes when too much of weight has been lost or it could also be a hereditary feature which individuals would want to rectify. The best advantage is that when men and women undergo neck lift or platysmaplasty the neck just looks more toned up than having surgery done.Jowls are another aspect which could prompt a neck lift.

Jowls can form from fatty deposits at the jaw line and laxity in the muscles, the neck muscles may begin to separate and hang, creating "bands" and the skin may hang more that we'd like creating the "turkey waddle" look.

A Neck Lift, or platysmaplasty and even submental platysmaplasty, is a surgery designed to reduce the loose look of sagging skin in the neck area and under the jaw line. Some patients who complain of having a fleshy neck, "jowls", plastysma or neck "banding", or a "turkey waddle" can benefit from this procedure.

Many times patients choose to have a neck lift with their face lift procedure. You must realize that the neck lift or face lift procedure is not designed to rejuvenate the area above the brow or around the eyes.

If this is what you seek a brow (forehead) lift or blepharoplasty may benefit you. These four procedures can be performed in conjunction with one another for a complete transformation. You could even opt for laser resurfacing, if you are a candidate, for increased wrinkle ablation and facial rejuvenation.
