Tummy tuck

Women tend to put on weight around the belly post pregnancy. This weight is generally a little difficult to lose. Some women have to live with it all their life. Of course excess weight around the middle is sometimes even due to plain aging.

Excess or lose skin around the belly decreases strength of the muscles beneath.Abdominoplasty or ‘tummy tuck’ provides a solution for this problem for both men and women. Men sometimes have a mid life crisis when they let go of themselves and develop a beer belly.

Abdominoplasty helps improve body contour and gives a smoother shape to the abdomen. The plastic surgery begins by making an incision within the ‘bikini’ or ‘boxer’ line under the abdomen, this is so that the scar is not visible post surgery. Excess skin and fat are removed, the muscles are tightened and the skin is kind of redraped to provide a pleasing body shape.

In most cases abdominoplasty is combined with liposuction for further fat removal and body contouring. We here at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California will work closely with you and help you help us develop an operative plan that will meet your specific needs.

Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a "tummy tuck," is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall.

The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. But bear in mind, it does produce a permanent scar, which, depending on the extent of the original problem and the surgery required to correct it, can extend from hip to hip.If you're considering abdominoplasty, this will give you a basic understanding of the procedure and how it's performed, and what results you can expect.

Ofcourse it cannot answer all your queries because it is subjective and depends on the patient and the plastic surgeon. But you should have a comfort level with your plastic surgeon to be able to put all your apprehensions to rest.
